Wid can complete a hat-trick at the expense of Vital Statistics, Russian Rosie and Suki Bear. John Dunlop's youngsters always improve markedly on what they show first time, so the fact that Wid disposed of some well-thought of rivals on her Newmarket debut augured well for her future. She went on to supplement those gains in fine style at Haydock next time, getting the better of La Presse, who franked the form by beating Brave Tin Soldier at York last week. That suggests that Wid is well above average, and she is confidently expected to take this en-route to a crack at the Cheveley Park Stakes at the end of next month. Vital Statistics was beaten by the selection's stablemate Scarlet Runner in the Princess Margaret Stakes at Royal Ascot, and was behind Wid at Newmarket, so John Dunlop will be pretty confident of seeing off that rival, while Newbury winner Russian Rosie, although on the upgrade, needs to find much more to figure. Suki Bear did nothing wrong at Windsor either, but is another with it all to do to stop Wid from scoring again.
