Gloved Hand is the pick over the likes of Puya, Gaelic Princess, Toffee Vodka and Stormy Monday, with All Quiet worth a mention. This does appear a very open handicap at first glance, but James Fanshawe looks to have found the right opportunity for Gloved Hand to gain a first success for the stable. She was highly thought of as a juvenile in her time with James Given, and indeed ran in the Queen Mary. Ultimately hard to place, she managed just the one win last year, at Ripon, before finding the mile trip too much on three subsequent starts. Confined to six furlongs since joining James Fanshawe, the daughter of Royal Applause was beaten narrowly by Jewel In The Sand on her latest outing at Newmarket in June, and fresh from a break, she lines up over what could turn out to be her optimum trip. Puya drops back in trip after a comfortable victory at Newmarket last time, but that should not prove a hindrance, and Henry Candy's filly is one for the short-list as well. Gaelic Princess was unlucky-in-running at Sandown last time but is becoming hard to win with, while Toffee Vodka, All Quiet and Stormy Monday all need to step up a gear to trouble the principals, the best of whom can be Gloved Hand.
