Verdict

Coppice is selected in an open looking handicap, with Logsdail, Count Kristo and Stormy Nature just a few more with claims. It was not a good weekend for Luca Cumani abroad with some of his big guns, but maybe Coppice can give the Bedford House trainer some compensation. The four-year-old, who has proved expensive to follow in the past, found all bar Out For A Stroll too good at Nottingham on his second outing of the campaign, having wandered all over the place inside the final furlong despite the best efforts of Kieren Fallon in the saddle. The son of Rainbow Quest will that bit fitter now, and hopefully Frankie Dettori can correct any steering problems. He is given another chance then, with Logsdail one of those to give him most to do. Gary Moore's charge bounced back to form at Sandown four days ago, aided by a decent handicap mark and the fitting of cheekpieces. The former Lynda Ramsden inmate came with a strong run to land the spoils and this extra furlong will not be a problem. Count Kristo has only had two outings this term, both of which were over further, and the last was in July. He chased home none other than Etlaala on his Newbury debut last August and should surely be good enough to win a handicap this autumn. Stormy Nature hails from a very much in-form stable and has to be considered as well, but Coppice is the suggestion.
