Two against the field effectively and RILEYSKEEPINGFAITH is our narrow preference to Instalment. Rileyskeepingfaith has to be respected on the basis of his second to the smart Wingwalker at Sandown Park. That looked a fairly strong contest under the circumstances and while he would have a couple of pounds to find on official figures, what he lacks in ability versus the top horse he more than makes up for in terms of tenacity. Instalment won his maiden at Newbury before tilting at Group prizes from thereon in. A keen sort, the drop in grade has unfortunately appeared a necessary evil for the Hannon colt. Countess Zara has been eclipsed in two poor maidens and really shouldn't be good enough on that evidence. Second To Nun shaped with a degree of promise on introduction at Folkestone though again it is hard to see her fighting out anything other than a battle for third place.
Instalment 12-1 (9-0) Pulled hard towards rear, ridden and effort over 2f out, soon no impression, 7th of 11, 4 1/2l behind Sri Putra (9-0) at Sandown 7f 2yo Grp 3 (1) gd in Aug.
Rileyskeepingfaith 8-1 (9-4) Steadied start, prominent, raced keenly, ridden to lead just over 1f out, headed inside final furlong, soon outpaced by winner, 2nd of 7, 1 1/2l behind Wingwalker (9-4) at Sandown 7f nov stk (3) gd in Sept.
Countess Zara (IRE) 40-1 (9-0) Slowly into stride, in rear, never a factor, 8th of 14, 13l behind Something Perfect (9-0) at Kempton 1m 2yo fll mdn (6) pol in Sept.
Second To Nun (IRE) 14-1 (9-0) Raced wide in mid-division, ridden 3f out, soon outpaced, 7th of 14, 12l behind Something Perfect (9-0) at Kempton 1m 2yo fll mdn (6) pol in Sept.
