      Verdict

A market-watching race if every there was one and DECISION is our selection with Princability and Simon Gray respected. Decision didn't exactly set the world alight with his first racecourse start but it did seem as if he didn't really take to the good-to-soft going that day. Clive Cox's horses have been performing much better of late and with the trainer taking a quiet approach to proceedings there appears nothing untoward about that absence. Princability shaped with plenty of promise on introduction. Admittedly this is on very different going to that at Goodwood but there were plenty of supporters interested in him on that occasion. Simon Gray makes a debut for Richard Hannon. There is plenty of evidence in the pedigree to suggest that whatever he achieves today will be a bonus. It hasn't been a vintage year for Roger Charlton's juveniles so Clowance House might be one to oppose unless the market says any different. Perfect Affair has a distinct American-led pedigree. Ralph Beckett will also be represented by Oke Bay, a 72 000-guineas prospect for whom connections will be keen to win for paddock value. Sandor sets the benchmark for today's rivals. The step up to a mile probably won't inconvenience although we have no way of knowing whether the switch to turf will. Decision is a speculative pick in a race that will probably throw up a few likely types for the future.
