Nonrunner
Nawaqees is selected here ahead of Fortunate Isle and Fremen. Having won at Goodwood, Nawaqees followed that up with an unlucky-in-running effort at Newbury. He has been raised only two pounds for that effort, acts on easy going and looks set to go well today. Fortunate Isle is only three pounds above a winning mark and comes here in good heart following a Beverley win. He looks set to go well again. Kamanda Laugh is now rated four pounds below his Newmarket winning mark of September 2005 and, even though he has not set the world alight since then on Turf, he cannot be ruled out of a good run, while Collateral Damage has proven that he can go well from around today's type of mark, although lately he has not proven consistent. Baan has regressed since running at Group level last spring, although his mark has dropped accordingly, while Fremen is on a winning mark and, given that he acts on easy going, has to be considered. Finally, the bottom three in the weights cannot be dismissed but they will have to post career-best efforts if they are going to land the spoils. All of which returns us to the selection, which is Nawaqees.
