Verdict
This maiden comes with the usual caveat of check the market, given the limited experience and form to go on, but ISHBELLE could improve from debut to land it, ahead of Saxonette and Empress Royal. Ralph Beckett's charge ran very green first time out, but sorted herself out to grab second place. She's entitled to come on for that run, and has the benefit here of a low draw. Empress Royal has twice as much racing experience, but needs to be away quicker than she has been so far. Having said that, she's stayed on well in both her races, and with a good start should be involved at the finish. Mick Channon's runners sent to the north always need more than a cursory glance, but Saxonette doesn't have any fancy entries (or indeed any others) . The yard have won this race three times in the last six years, and will certainly be expecting a strong performance. Of the other newcomers, the Michael Owen owned and Tom Dascome trained Madam Mayem may attract some support given the form the trainer's been in. The market could give us clues as to which to back and which to swerve, but we'll take a chance on ISHBELLE.
