Dimboola can stave off the challenge of the Easterby family to open his account, with Atheneum also worth a mention. This is definitely a race in which the market should be closely watched, as Mick Easterby saddles no less than four runners, while nephew Tim supplies a brace as well. However, on the bare form the selection has to be Dimboola who has shaped very well on all three outings to date, despite being far from the finished article. The Barry Hills-trained colt, who is related to plenty of winners, sets the standard on his second to Excellent Art at Newmarket the time before last, and after failing to see out the trip when tried over six furlongs here last month, is dropped back to the minimum. Hopefully he will have settled down enough to show his true potential here, and he is taken to make experience count. As stated, it will be prudent to monitor the betting market for a guide as to which of the Easterby runners is fancied, but we would plump for Abdu, a half-brother to Word Perfect who has only raced on softer ground to date. He too has a bit of form and should be involved. Of the others, Atheneum has some scope but will be better when upped in trip, but Dimboola looks the one to be on now.
