    Verdict

Swords can follow up here at the expense of Lenwade, Let It Be, Parchment, York Cliff and Danebank. Swords had threatened to win a race last winter when placed on a number of occasions, and finally came good at Wolverhampton 17 days ago, battling home by a head from Irish Ballad. The key to that overdue success was a step up in trip, and although he is dropped down a couple of furlongs here, a good gallop should ensure that he makes a bold bid to follow up, back on Turf for the first time since last September. Lenwade failed to settle at Thirsk last time but was only beaten a length at the finish, while Let It Be has topweight to overcome, but is fairly consistent. York Cliff was a close second in an amateur riders' event at Chester last time, but now has the help of Frankie Dettori for the first time, and Danebank returned from a spell over hurdles to go close over the course-and-distance three weeks ago, but is not guaranteed to repeat that effort. An open affair in the main can go the way of Swords.
