In depth

Verdict

Alhaitham looks the one to be on, with Profitable and Prinquet the pair to chase him home. John Dunlop sends Alhaitham on the long journey up from Sussex, and will be disappointed if the trip back down is not a happy one. It should be on the evidence so far, as the son of Storm Cat's form is far superior to that of his rivals. A four-length third to Aeroplane at Newmarket in April is just one solid line to work on, and in addition he was very unlucky at headquarters the time before last when his saddle slipped. He was well in command at the time, and to add insult to injury, was subsequently disqualified from third for losing his weight-cloth. Beaten in a photo when odds-on at Pontefract three weeks ago, he has a cast-iron chance of putting matters right here. Having debuted over a mile, Profitable was stepped right up to 12 furlongs at Newmarket last time but faded out of contention. This drop back in distance might bring about a better showing. Prinquet should appreciate the trip on breeding, but is another that does not look up to the task of stopping Alhaitham from obliging.
