A good race for the grade which may go the way of Torrens with Tufton and Little Jimbob two of the more obvious dangers. The selection was well backed on his seasonal reappearance and debut for this yard in this grade but weakened well inside the final furlong to finish a 5 length fifth. Official ratings give him leading claims in this company, he has a respectable strike rate, is fairly reliable and entitled to come on for the run whilst Ollie Pears has made a good start to his training career as this year¿s strike rate testifies. Torrens is given the chance to recoup last month¿s losses. Stablemate Rowan Lodge is no forlorn hope either as he was only narrowly beaten over course and distance last time in a similar contest despite running below his best; he¿s a live contender. Tufton comes into this race on the back of a break but Ian Williams has been amongst the winners this week and he appears to benefit from plenty of time between his races; he should go well but may not appreciate too much rain. The question mark over Little Jimbob¿s chances resolves around his stamina despite his win over eleven furlongs last time; he called the shots in a slowly run race that afternoon and is sure to be asked more of a question on this occasion with some strong stayers in the line-up. That may find him out close home and we prefer the claims of Torrens.
