A good number with chances but we¿ve restricted our short-list to Braille, Royal Grace, Handsinthemist and Linnet Park with Braille the pick. Supporters of the lightly raced gelding will need to forgive him a modest showing at Doncaster where he never threatened to take a hand in the finish on his handicap debut but he was only beaten just over 5 lengths at the finish and this represents a drop in grade. Prior to that outing he had shown steady improvement on each of his three starts culminating with an eyecatching effort at Doncaster where he was just run out of the places close home; it was that run which suggested he could make his mark in handicaps and he¿s given the chance to confirm the impression. Royal Grace is another lightly raced sort who won her maiden on good to soft well enough before failing to land a blow in a Haydock handicap. Her chance wasn¿t helped by a slow start and being drawn high that day and she may well be able to resume her progress if getting away on terms today. Handsinthemist deserves a mention as she¿s been running well of late and is only 1lb higher than when no match for a progressive performer at Windsor. Linnet Park has been frustrating to follow as she has rarely been beaten far but has yet to win a race; she¿s fitted with blinkers for the first time this afternoon and if they bring about an ounce of improvement then she could have a say in the outcome. Braille can be no more than a hopeful choice in an open event.
