UNAWATUNA finished off last years turf season with consecutive wins at Ripon and Newcastle and is given the vote to land the hat-trick at the expense of Flora's Pride and Merrion Tiger. The selection runs off a four pound higher mark since her winter break. She continued to improve throughout the season last year and looked well suited to the soft ground conditions in her final winning outing. She will once again have conditions in her favour and if fit from her winter holiday she ought to go close. Flora's Pride will have fitness in her favour having been running over hurdles during the past couple of months. She is still winless under both codes to date but she caught the eye after finishing second at Catterick last time out and is worth noting in the betting this time around. Merrion Tiger has won three times on the sand at Southwell. His form on the turf looks inferior to the majority of his rivals but he should favour the testing ground conditions and could enter the frame at decent odds. Unawatuna looked progressive last season and is taken to get back to winning ways on her seasonal debut.
