A terrifically tough closing race in which KING PIN tops the shortlist which includes Silly Gilly, Micky Mac and Viva Volta. The selection runs this track well and he wasn't disgraced here last time out over a mile. He should cope with the drop back to this trip and with one of the more experienced jockeys on board he is fancied to run a big race. Kipchak's recent Warwick run reads well in a stronger race than this one, Carnivore has the form in the book if bouncing back to near his best after a mini-break, whilst Viva Volta has been harshly bumped up 5lb for a recent Musselburgh second. Course and distance winner Seldom hasn't progressed since winning his maiden here in April and has plenty to prove, as do Efidium and Finsbury after poor latest efforts. With less to prove is Young Gladiator; he won a Newcastle claimer in July when last seen and has a good chance if handling the likely quicker ground and his reassessed handicap mark. Silly Gilly and Micky Mac have both held their form well of late and neither should mind the return to seven furlongs, whilst Redwater River needs watching in the betting despite a mark of 56 looking high enough. The market should shed some further clues, however we are happy to side with King Pin.
