An impossible race to get a handle on with Xaarist just getting the selection ahead of Pee Jay's Dream and Satin Rose. Tom Tate has a good record with his stayers and with his dam an out-and-out stayer - there is every chance that if he can handle the surface, he will be good enough to do himself justice in a dour contest. Pee Jay's Dream has to be respected after a couple of fair runs at Haydock Park. Sons of Vettori have handled cut in the ground so this in theory should not represent too much of a leap in the dark. Satin Rose is one of the few recent winners in the contest. Admittedly that was in a seller at Pontefract but she did look capable of staying further. Figaro Quest is bred to stay but has shown little. Maunby Reveller is watched in the market. His second at Beverley over two miles reads well in the context of this contest and he did appear to be suited with a bit of give in the ground. Benedict Bay should handle the surface but has struggled this term. A modest race with only minimal stakes bets suggested about Xaarist.
