In depth

Verdict

Kilworth was well touted before his debut at headquarters, finishing a good second and will take a good one to beat him here; of the newcomers, Araafa and Sciatin make the most appeal. The latter, trained by Luca Cumani, is a derby entry who cost 90,000 guineas as a yearling and is related to winners in the states. While he may need a bit more time, any market support would be worth noting. Jeremy Noseda's horses are in great form and his Araafa looks the part on breeding, certainly. A Mull Of Kintyre colt, he cost 150,000 guineas as a yearling compared to 48,000 as a foal, and it would be no surprise to see him give a good account of himself on debut. But Kilworth was widely touted before making his debut in a hot looking maiden at Newmarket's July meeting, and shaped very well when a close second to Gin Jockey. It could be argued that the draw beat him on that occasion, and with Kieren Fallon booked Kilworth is strongly fancied to get off the mark here.
