Quite a competitive opener and this should concern Catch The Cat, Kangarilla Road, Parkside Pursuit, One Way Ticket and Pulse and we take Catch The Cat to score. The selection is dropping slightly in the handicap and runs here off the same mark as when winning a more valuable fast ground handicap at Musselburgh last summer. As with so many sprinters, he wins in his turn and with conditions in his favour again here, plus that favourable mark, it looks like being his turn once more. Kangarilla Road is an interesting opponent and not without a chance. Linda Ramsden's gelding was in fine form three seasons ago, landing three sprint handicaps, though he had failed to win again until taking a small race at Wolverhampton on the fibresand in February. He does enjoy fast ground and he is well capable off this mark, but his lack of consistency and his tendency to burst of late mean we have looked elsewhere. Pulse has been in great form of late, winning two of his last three, and he has clear frame claims, though this is more competitive than he has been used to. Milton Bradley runs both Parkside Pursuit and One Way Ticket, but the former looks, held by Kangarilla Road and the latter by Pulse, so they may have to wait for other days. A decent opener then and we take Catch The Cat to do the business.
