In depth

Verdict

Al Maysan won a couple of minor all-weather races over a mile before stepping up to this trip on the Rowley Course and disappointing. Roger Varian runs two and Maqtal, who didn't appear to enjoy the surface at Wolverhampton, looks better at this stage than Union. Zabeel Champion ran too bad to be true on his reappearance at Yarmouth though his earlier runs don't add up to much but Richard Hannon is in tremendous form and MAFIA POWER looks progressive enough and can land a tricky handicap. Glorious Caesar has scrambled home in two minor all-weather handicaps and will need more.
