Verdict
The draw nearly always plays a part in handicaps on the straight course here but the rain may have levelled the playing field a little. SWINDLER wasn’t on his best behaviour when favourite at Newmarket earlier this month, only consenting to run on in the closing stages. But he’s 2-2 here and still relatively unexposed so deserves a chance to make amends. Blue Mist usually runs his race but doesn’t always find a lot at the business end. Aplomb will be happy to be back over 6f and has form at the track on soft going but the ground has gone against Embour. Nahaarr has been looking a weak finisher over 7f so is worth a try over 6f and Tim Easterby looks to have a chance with two of his four entries. Oisin Murphy partners Newmarket third Count D'Orsay but Vintage Brut might be more interesting under Silvestre De Sousa as he loves the mud and is thrown in on the pick of his form as a two-year-old. Like the latter, Cosmic Law was beaten a long way on his reappearance at Newcastle but he blew the start and is another potentially well treated.
