      Verdict

      RIVIERA NIGHTS, three-times a winner for Richard Hannon including at Ascot in September, was beaten less than a length in a Class 2 on the Rowley Course three weeks later and can race from the same mark. Now with Roger Varian he can make a successful reappearance though Deep Intrigue has performed well in his last three starts in similar company here and looks a threat. King Of Tonga won a Class 4 handicap on heavy going here in November but is 6lb higher for this better race and finished behind Ventura Ocean in the race won by Daarik at Newcastle earlier this month. Richard Fahey's charge has won three races, all on fast ground, so wouldn't want any more rain. Eight-times winner Alemaratalyoum won easily on testing ground at Goodwood in September so any ease in the going would enhance his claims.
