CLOUDY START can complete his hat-trick at the main expense of Loch Linnhe and Spring Of Fame. The Oasis Dream colt was rated just 88 when making the best of his way home in an Epsom handicap on Derby Day before making a mockery of his revised mark when slamming higher rated rivals in a conditions race at Kempton. Those behind were well worth their lofty positions in the ranks so it's no surprise to see Cloudy Start line up here with the highest official rating. He has plenty in his favour and should start at a short price. Spring Of Fame has yet to win a race since leaving Mikael Magnusson but he has shown progressive form and should make his presence felt although soft terrain would be an unknown. Derbaas is closely matched with the selection on these terms and is a more than capable performer but his strike-rate is a little offputting even allowing for the company that he's kept. Loch Linnhe was pitched straight into the Group 3 Jersey Stakes having won his maiden by eight lengths so was far from disgraced in finishing in midfield. That run should have taught him more than his facile success and it could be significant that he is one of only three entries that his trainer has in the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. He's the potential fly in the ointment but we'll stick with Cloudy Start.
