NOSEDIVE is suggested ahead of Orpen Grey and Arcano. The stats are against Arcano as all of the previous ten winners of this race have had more than one start but Brian Meehan's colt impressed when winning at Newbury and the form of the race has been working out particularly well. He also shaped as though he would improve for the run so he enters calculations. Angel's Pursuit will appreciate the longer trip but needs to step up on the form that he showed in a Listed race a week ago. Red Jazz disappointed in the Coventry but probably paid the price for trying to match strides with Canford Cliffs and is capable of better. Reignier, Tawaab and Nosedive were separated by half a length and two and a half in the Norfolk with Diamond Johnny G just under three lengths back in sixth. There's not a great deal to choose between the first three named as Tawaab arguably had the worst of the draw whilst Nosedive would have finished closer with a clear run. The trip shouldn't pose problems for any of them but Haggas' charge could be the one to derive the greatest benefit and could see him reverse the form. Orpen Grey was hugely impressive when slamming the field at Salisbury in a race that Classic Blade took in en route to landing this prize. His success there was reminiscent of the way that Classic Blade won this race and he appears to have plenty of scope; he has a leading chance on that evidence. Niran's Yarmouth win came in a slower time than the seller on the same card and this is a big step up for Noble Greek but Ghostwing's six-length Ayr win was given some substance when the third scored by 10 lengths at Carlisle next time so he shouldn't be ignored with the yard housing some fair sorts this term. Favourites have struggled in recent renewals and there are plenty of plausible winners in this line-up but we've plumped for Nosedive.
