The curiously named Johnny The Fish gets the nod here, while King Malachi, Norman Beckett and Cape Presto should also figure strongly. Cape Presto won well last time and shapes as if he will get further in due course. He can use this as a learning curve and is worth keeping tabs on as he progresses. Norman Beckett appreciated the step up to seven furlongs at Redcar last month and won a seller with plenty in hand. He obviously faces a stiffer test here but rates as good value for one of the places. However, he has a bit to find with King Malachi, who rates as the biggest threat to the selection. Neville Callaghan's charge had several useful types behind him when he was second in the Woodcote at Epsom and has to be respected on that form. Nevertheless, he may struggle to concede 8lb to Johnny The Fish at this stage and we turn to the mount of Jimmy Fortune on this occasion. A mark of 79 is certainly not too restricting in this company and, as he has improved with every run so far, there are plenty of reasons to expect more from the son of Most Welcome this afternoon.
