Verdict

Summer Gold, Direct Debit and HARALD BLUETOOTH form our short-list for the finale with the latter given the chance to redeem his reputation. Victory for Harald Bluetooth would be one in the eye for Jamie Spencer who has deserted the Fanshawe trained gelding in favour of Direct Debit. That alone makes the Michael Bell runner of interest and the five year-old has contested some warm handicaps in the past couple of seasons. The handicapper has given him a chance as he's now 4lbs lower than when last in action and it will be interesting to see if the market speaks in his favour. Summer Gold failed to cope with the drop back to seven furlongs for the Shergar Cup but her success from Oat Cuisine on her penultimate start reads well enough in light of the runner-up's subsequent hat-trick whilst the third and fifth also went on to taste success. She's lightly raced and open to further improvement. The selection finished tailed off on his latest start and his subsequent absence from the track suggests that something was amiss. He was a short-priced favourite that day to land a race that was won by the subsequent Listed winner Kalahari Gold which is an indication of the promise that he'd shown in previous outings. Harald Bluetooth is taken to get back on track this afternoon.
