Compromiznotension gets a narrow vote over the likes of Cleaver, Esthlos, Davenport and Dium Mac in the finale. Fitness will be a key factor here, as not many of the principals have been plying their trade on the all-weather, and of those that have, only Esthlos makes any appeal. He may struggle to contain a couple of these that ended the last Turf campaign with a flourish, notably Cleaver and Compromiznotension. The latter beat a small field on his final start on heavy ground at Ayr, but seems to handle any ground and has not had a great deal of racing. Ian Semple is optimistic of a big run from the four-year-old, and he can see off the challenge of southern raider Cleaver. Lady Herries' charge races off a career-high mark, but there will be none staying on stronger at the finish. Davenport's Turf form went downhill last autumn, but he was placed to score at Southwell in January, and has been rested since. He has a bit to find, but Dium Mac ended last term on a high, and despite a break and a rise in the weights, can be fancied to run well under regular pilot Suzzanne France. There should be plenty of handicaps to be won with the leading lights here over the next few months, and on this occasion we rely on Compromiznotension.
