Psychomodo showed promise in four starts in bumpers and lost no caste in defeat when chasing home Benetwood (a winner again since) on his hurdling debut so is taken to go one better here at the main expense of BallaBriggs and Fastaffaran. The last mentioned has found one too good in each of his last three starts and can again be expected to be thereabouts but may, once more, have to settle for a minor role. Royal Melbourne has given little sign of encouragement since switched to the winter game, while Sea Senor probably needs to improve to trouble the judge. Victor Daly is open to improvement after just three starts although more solid claims are held by Don McCain's BallaBriggs, who is clearly going the right way. Psychomodo has solid claims though and he is preferred.
