Fossgate gets the vote in a competitive opener with Mount Usher and Lysandra rated as the main dangers. The selection has had his fair share of injury problems but he won well at Nottingham when beating Intavac Boy last time. He gave the impression that there would be more to come from him that day and he should prove too strong for his rivals here with conditions to suit. Mount Usher should give him the most to think about as he did not have the run of the race at Beverley last time, and that contest has worked out well. Lysandra lost no caste in defeat at Beverley last time behind The Pen but he had previously finished behind Mount Usher on the same track and he looks to have a little to find with that rival here. Compton Dragon is a course and distance winner and he is another that could go well at a big price, but for the winner we are happy to return to Fossgate.
