Course specialist Dechiper and Thin Red Line rate highly but it looks significant that Jim Goldie has acquired the services of Jamie Spencer for DAR ES SALAAM. Spencer has ridden Best Prospect a number of times in the past but partners Dar Es Salaam this time around following an encouraging run at York by the son of King's best. That came over twelve furlongs but this is his optimum trip and his style of running looks ideally suited to his jockey who often challenges from off the pace. Thin Red Line appreciated the step up to this trip when running on strongly at Pontefract and a 6lb rise may be insufficient to anchor this lightly raced colt. The trainer had won the same race with a useful sort the previous year and this fellow is accorded the utmost respect. Dechiper is a standing dish here but will need a career best to defy his revised mark so it may be worth taking a look at the likes of Kingsdale Orion and Stagecoach Jade who both come here in decent form; preference, however, is for Dar Es Salaam.
