Verdict

History suggests that those carrying nine stone and above are up against it which counts against some of the fancied runners although it wouldn't pay to be too dogmatic about the odd pound. SPEED TICKET makes a good deal of appeal with Keenes Day and Hendersyde keeping him company on the short-list. Friston Forest, Ajaan and Meshtri all have claims but could be stopped by the weight that they have to carry whilst Judgethemoment has been done no favours by the draw and looks worth opposing under a penalty following a tough race at Ascot. Keenes Day was behind that day but he travelled strongly and looked the likely winner in the straight before his stamina gave way. He wasn't given too hard a time when his chance had gone and he should finish closer this time around. Electrolyser is a potential improver now stepped up in trip whilst Hits Only Vic is only 4lbs higher than when winning at Haydock and should make his presence felt. Meethaq is interesting but far from certain to stay this far unlike Hendersyde and Speed Ticket who can boast similar profiles. Hendersyde is unbeaten this season and appeals as a horse to keep on side; he's been raised 7lbs for his Newmarket success but is heading in the right direction and ticks plenty of boxes. The selection has had just four career starts and has to prove his stamina but he's a son of Galileo out of a Kendor mare so could well find considerable improvement for the longer trip. He caught the eye on debut for Luca Cumani before winning his maiden and then joining his current yard. He had just the one start over hurdles before making the frame in competitive handicaps at Leopardstown and the Curragh which proves that he can handle the hurly burly of a big field. The quicker ground will also suit and Speed Ticket is taken to keep the trophy in Ireland for another year.
