In depth

Verdict

Overstayed had little chance from a bad draw in the Lilly Agnes at Chester last time and is taken to bounce back to winning ways at the main expense of Beverley Polo and Angaric. The last mentioned ran on late on his debut at Carlisle and has to be respected on that evidence but being by Pivotal may prefer a softer surface to show his best form. Tim Easterby's Mullaad showed promise on his debut at Beverley and as Tim Easterby's juveniles normally improve with racing he cannot be ruled out. Howard Johnson introduces a son of Compton Place, Pacific Pride, who would not need to be out of the ordinary to win this first time out. He is another to consider along with Mick Easterby's Beverley Polo, although this looks tougher than the race that he won on his debut and preference is for Overstayed. Paul Blockley's colt created a favourable impression when scoring at Ripon on his first start before finding the draw against him at Chester. There will be no such problems today and Overstayed is taken to resume winning ways.
