In depth

Verdict

Magic Mike landed a first career success when sticking on well to score at Perth and 4lb rise seems a fair reaction from the assessor. That performance represented a notable improvement on previous efforts and he holds a clear chance if reproducing that level now. Killane does not appear to be ground or track-dependent and this course and distance winner is compiling a pleasing strike rate over timber. He should be in the shake-up off what remains a fair mark. Irish Sovereign will be all the better for his reappearance run after over a year off and remains of interest, but another chance goes to ARTIC ROW. He's disappointed on his last three starts - well backed each time - but has a solid claim if able to recapture the level of his 2m win at Ayr in March on good ground.
