In depth
Verdict
A number of imponderables in this opening maiden, and the market should prove a useful guide, but China Eyes gets a tentative vote ahead of Molly Moon and Blue Tomato another interesting newcomer. China Eyes is one of three Barry Hills-trained newcomers in this field, so the market should help as to their relative merits, but the Fasilyev filly is a half-sister to five winners and Pat Eddery's mount is certainly bred to be quick. Molly Moon has some form in the book and her debut second at Warwick means it will probably take a good one to beat her. There are, though, a number of interesting newcomers as well, including two trained by Richard Hannon. But Paul Cole's American-bred colt Blue Tomato appeals as a likely type and is definitely one to consider if the market speaks in his favour.
