An extremely tough puzzle for punters to solve, and jockeyship can play an important part in a race such as this. Nautical, Vicious Knight, Digital, Will He Wish, Top Dirham and Salinger are on a long-looking shortlist, with the latter just preferred. Nautical is in good heart and followed his Windsor dead heat with a close second at Doncaster on Friday night so must surely be thereabouts. Dandy Nicholls is a champion of lady riders' talents and had a horse placed in this race last year, so Musselburgh winner Vicious Knight has to be considered. Digital returned to form at Carlisle last time and is still very well treated on his old form, while Will He Wish has been running well and Lynsey Hanna is a good booking. Top Dirham loves to hear his hooves rattle and should also receive good assistance from the saddle, but Salinger has far more scope than these and Peter Chapple-Hyam's colt has the look of a horse who has been mapped out for this. On only his second start, Salinger made rapid late headway to win a six fur;long maiden at Lingfield going away, and this stiff seven should prove ideal. A mark of 74 looks on the generous side for his handicap debut, and Salinger looks to be the best option here.
