Mick Channon has won four of the last nine renewals of this but his Hairspray looks held by a few of these, none more so than LADY OF THE DESERT who gets the confident vote to beat Habaayib and Misheer. Brian Meehan's filly won three of her five starts as a juvenile and one of her defeats came behind the general 1000 Guineas favourite Special Duty. She won first time out too which bodes well for her return and providing she stays this seventh furlong she's going to take a whole lot of beating. Habaayib won last season's Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot, at which point she looked set to be a potential star. However, she then went on to finish behind Misheer in the Cherry Hinton before finishing behind her and our selection at Newmarket, so clearly the filly has plenty to prove. However, Ed Dunlop has started the season well and our inclination is to forgive her those displays and earmark her for the forecast. Misheer has to enter caculations on that Newmarket race, the Cheveley Park Stakes, where she was just ahead of our pick. That said she's bred to be speedy and this trip should serve the aforementioned pair better. Puff was fourth in that contest and is rated the equal of Habaayib but is another for whom sprinting will surely prove ideal, whilst Deirdre needs to improve a bundle but represents top connections. Lady Of The Desert looks the filly most likely to improve for this step up in trip and can confirm that suspicion by taking this.
