Irish Heartbeat travelled like a horse way ahead of his mark when winning the Spring Mile but there are reasons for taking him on and we do so in the shape of MANASSAS, whilst Desert Creek, Mull Of Killough and Cityscape should also go well. Our selection is at his best over a mile on decent ground, as he showed when landing a handicap at the back end of last season. He may have got off lightly with just a 3lb rise and the fact that he won first time out in 2009 suggests he'll be fit for this. There are a host of dangers, headed perhaps by Desert Creek who is in the right hands to progress this season. He needs to having disappointed last time but it's too soon to be writing him off. Mull Of Killough ran well in the Lincoln on his first start of the year and has claims off the same mark although he isn't necessarily guaranteed to come on for that having gone well fresh in the past and he may find a couple too good. Irish Heartbeat is the likely favourite here representing the flying Richard Fahey. He won the Spring Mile at Doncaster on his first try at this trip and a 4lb rise might not prevent the follow-up, but our view is he'll prove better over seven as he travels so well. Cityscape looked promising as a juvenile but only made the track twice last year. He remains a horse of listed potential but carrying top weight to victory here will take some performance. Credit Swap isn't handicapped out of this and has gone well fresh so should be considered along with Extraterrestrial who is only 5lbs higher than when winning this last year. Competitive stuff but we are sweet on the chances of Manassas.
