Martin Lane rides this track very well and he may have the nous to help PETELLA get her nose in front at the jam stick, although Kyber and Royal Flynn look dangerous in opposition. Lane has a 24 per cent strike rate and rides for Chris Thornton in this, with the trainer having enjoyed one win from just two recent runners, so there is more than one positive. In addition to that, the filly Petella has put in two very good efforts in the context of this race, from her last two starts, including over course and distance in April, and she can get it right today. Kyber was last in that same race, but it is not that long since Jim Goldie's gelding won here over two miles from a mark of 57, so with the trainer going well we should see a much better run from him this time around. Royal Flynn is another from an in-form yard, and while trip and ground are not of concern, it has been around three years since his last win and he looks best watched until showing some spark. Ocean Bright is not beyond improvement, while Tillietudlem should be monitored in the market, though the last can go the way of Petella.
