In depth

Verdict

The shortlist of Otelcaliforni, Jidaar and Grey Outlook picks itself, really, with the vote going to the first-named horse. Well-bred, Otelcaliforni cost 200,000 guineas and she showed plenty of promise on her Windsor debut. Connections will be desperate to get her some winning brackets and everything points to a good run. Jidaar will need to improve on his Leicester debut eighth, but he is likely to and this is modest stuff, so he is respected. Grey Outlook returned for the season with a fair fifth to King Of The Moors at Catterick and, based on his best of last year, has to come firmly into the reckoning. Based on what we have seen so far of the others, they seem modest, which returns us to the selection, which is Otelcaliforni.
