Verdict

Oh dear! Only three have bothered to turn up, and with Native Eire and Crosby Don making no appeal, Allimac must surely just have to jump round to take the prize back to Wantage. Henrietta Knight's charge is head and shoulders above the others on form, even though he was pulled up at Ascot on his last engagement. The six-year-old, a son of Alphabatim, has gained both his wins over fences, at Hereford and Ludlow, on fast ground, and was third to the useful Isio at Kempton. It certainly has the makings of a mismatch, and Allimac will be one of the shortest priced favourites of the day-but on this occasion you cannot blame the bookies!
