There was nothing wrong with the performance of RUSSIAN DAVIS when scoring on his handicap debut and he is taken to follow up, while Lucky Rave and Poppy N'Penny are dangers. The Robert Cowell-trained selection is penalised 6lbs for a resounding Kempton win, where Poppy N'Penny was three-quarters-of-a-length in arrears and the pair were clear of the remainder. The latter now has that 6lb pull with the selection, so it won't be easy for him, but it was more the manner than the margin of his win that suggests he may well be good enough to keep her at bay once more. Lucky Rave ran on well to finish at least three lengths clear of Listillo when scoring at Wolverhampton last month and from a mark of 75 he should again be competitive here. Edgewater has earned his right to top weight here with some very solid performances in maidens and with the stable going strongly as a whole he can make his presence felt, but Russian Davis is preferred.
