MONDEGO can win under a penalty to follow up Friday night's success at Wolverhampton, but the dangers are headed by Admiral Duque also racing with an extra six pounds to carry for winning the night before, and Prince Charlemagne. George Baker's runner had been off the track for more than 600 days before pouncing late to win a poor race on Friday, to reward those who'd punted him off the boards. A quick re-appearance was to be expected, and backers from the other night may be hoping he can come on for that run. The way he was finishing suggested he can get this trip without any concerns, and he's gone further when jumping in Ireland. He's two from two on the all-weather, having previously won in his native Germany. Admiral Duque won on the same track the previous evening, and over this trip. Like the selection, his winning claimer stays on board, but that win was the first in a while, and there's not much consistency at this sort of level of the positive variety. Prince Charlemagne is a multiple winner here, but hasn't tasted success since March. There are a number of other regulars here who may attract some support such as Our Kes and Bridge of Fermoy, but we'll side with Mondego to show that Friday night wasn't a one-off.
