Verdict

WOODCOTE is the suggestion in a tight heat but Northern Empire has sound claims and is sure to be popular whilst Caribbean Coral is unexposed on this surface. Ten Down has a little to find at the weights but is no forlorn hope whilst Brandywell Boy and Don Pele could also get involved but the former finds winning here difficult and the latter would prefer another furlong. Caribbean Coral has had just three runs on this surface and ran well enough in a fair handicap last time to think that he can be a factor but preference is for Woodcote. He faced a simple task in a course and distance seller on his latest start but won the race in good fashion and that may have boosted his confidence sufficiently to enable him to follow up. There's little to choose at the weights between Woodcote and Northern Empire and the latter should be seen to better effect back over a course and distance that suits him well. Jamie Spencer has nine winners from just nineteen rides for Kevin Ryan in this calendar year and have every chance of recording another success but marginal preference is for Woodcote.
