Verdict
With only half of the field having raced previously there is not a great deal for backers to go on in the opening race at Lingfield on Saturday. Those with racing experience make limited appeal and the winner is likely to come from one of the newcomers. Pat Haslam's runners on the all-weather always warrant respect and a market move for his Premier Grand would be interesting although the fact that he has already been gelded is a concern. Rae Guest introduces a son of College Chapel, Roanokee, while Gary Moore sends out the Bluebird filly Delichon. Lady Hibernia, a daughter of Anabaa, represents the stable of Jeremy Noseda and is sure to have her supporters but the one to really catch the eye, and our selection, is Perfect Love. Gerard Butler has produced countless winners on the Polytrack this winter and this daughter of Pursuit Of Love out of a Caerleon mare looks the part on breeding. Of those with racing experience, Jamie Osborne's Queen Nefertari showed ability in three starts in Ireland, the William Jarvis-trained Bridge Pal ran creditably when fifth in a similar contest here last month as did Janes Valentine, while High Reach should find this company less exacting than those he faced on his debut at Warwick in October. However, Gerard Butler has his team in great form at present and we are prepared to side with his representative.
