The best race on the card can go to FEN SPIRIT ahead of Billy Red and Misaro. John Gosden's three year old showed progressive maiden form before scoring tidily over this trip in November 2008. Off the track since and allotted a mark of 79 for her handicap debut the filly was well held over seven last time at Kempton but, back at a more appropriate trip today and with plenty of improvement likely, we'll take this unexposed sort to get the better of some more experienced rivals. Misaro won off this mark last time and so, as a winner without a penalty, this eight-year-old must have a chance under David Probert, although we think the horse is more at home over five furlongs and a bigger danger may come from Billy Red. The five-year-old goes well here as he showed when a head second to the re-opposing Brandywell Boy over course and distance last time. The latter did well to win that day but Billy Red is weighted to reverse the form and may well do so by going close for Fergus Sweeney. Imprimis Tagula is up 6lbs following a comfortable success at Southwell last time but, whilst placed here back in August, that was off a lower mark and the horse might need returning to Southwell if he's to enter the winners' enclosure off this rating. Old boy Divinsky goes well here but might face stiff competition for the lead and with that in mind we select Fen Spirit in the hope the race is teed up for her.
