Connections will struggle to find a better opportunity for ISTIDLAAL who can get the better of Never Can Tell and Stoical. Sir Michael Stoute's colt is a half-brother to Soapy Danger, a horse who won over two miles, so the step up in trip here is seen as a positive. He dropped out worryingly when tried in a handicap last time off a mark of 80, so there's no guarantee he's up to his official BHA rating of 77, but we're putting our faith in a first-time visor helping him to show his true colours. Never Can Tell ran well to take second off 75 at Chepstow but that came when she was dropped slightly in distance and a return to 1m6f isn't certain to suit this Montjeu filly. Even so, in a weak maiden she can take second ahead of Stoical, a colt who's struggled in maidens but has his sights lowered slightly by an in-form operation. Tiger Cat is from a stable amongst the winners and this is a suitable starting point while Tigress Hill needs to step up on an ordinary Kempton debut, but if Istidlaal and Never Can Tell don't dominate this we'll be surprised, with the former preferred.
