A trappy Class 5 sprint full of contenders who crop up in their turn and a fast pace ensured with the likes of the trailblazing Pearl Noir on show. The Dixon gelding held on well last time to oblige at Ripon and has landed back-to-back successes before. However, he's not been the most consistent over the years and CLASSIC PURSUIT is put forward as a speculative choice on the back of two perfectly solid runs after an absence at Nottingham on similar ground. He'll need things to fall right but he hails from a highly progressive yard and remains on a feasible mark. Whitecrest is another likely to be doing his best work late on and the recent Brighton winner is respected along with Ada Lovelace, third home in that Brighton contest. Ruby's Day and Oriental Relation are also noted in a very open affair.
