Verdict
CANDIDATE (NAP) is back on the same mark as when just beaten by the useful Desert Path at Windsor in June. A winner over this trip on his seasonal reappearance, he finished ahead of Coolongolook in the Melrose at York in August and was forced to plot a wide course at Kempton last time. The maiden Scaramanga looks a danger on his latest fourth at Newmarket and Velvet Vision could be interesting having a first run over this trip. Spirit Ridge was second to a decent sort at Ffos Las after beating an odds-on favourite at Catterick but the handicapper has taken no chances. Adjutant’s stamina will have to be taken on trust and Alan King’s pair Nebuchadnezzar and Manor Park make more appeal.
