Verdict
Gremlin is selected to get debut losses back ahead of Folio, Kat Act Two and Kyshanty to name but a few. Alan King is fast assembling a useful team on the Flat to accompany his already impressive squad of jumpers, and judged on the debut performance of Gremlin at Windsor just over three weeks ago, he should pay to follow during the summer. Sent off as joint favourite, he displayed plenty of greenness as well as ability, and as he also looked very leggy, this half-brother to Lord Of The East did well to finish second after racing wide throughout and being crossed by the winner. Eddie Ahern takes over in the saddle and a big run is expected. There are plenty of interesting newcomers in opposition including Folio, whose dam is related to some decent American performers, and Kyshanty, a son of first-season sire Kyllachy. Jamie Osborne's youngsters should pay their way during the summer and with that in mind, Kat Act Two should not be forgotten. Her half-sister Trempjane won first time out as a juvenile and she too may well be forward enough to give a bold show. However, with the benefit of experience, it is Gremlin that appears to be the one to beat on this occasion.
