A tight contest where SOPHIE'S BEAU may turn out to be the most reliable option and he is consequently put up ahead of Petrocelli and Kirsty's Boy although most of the field have claims. Juicy Pear wears a visor as he drops significantly in grade for the first time on just his second turf start with Maoi Chinn Tire another who has done the majority of his racing on the all-weather but he did run well enough in a Chepstow handicap last time to be considered. Richard Hughes is a good replacement for Liam Keniry who, presumably, has opted to partner Kirsty's Boy who picked up three claimers at Lingfield over the winter. Tucker's Law was disappointing in a Lingfield handicap given that he was well drawn and he still has a little to prove on turf as does Moors Gorse who has had just the one start on grass which was inconclusive given that she played up on the way down to the start before failing to land a blow. Petrocelli would have claims on his Beverley run but disappointed at Carlisle and preference is for Sophie's Beau. He has left Brian Meehan since winning and has an extra furlong to cover but should stay and may be able to reward his new connections with an immediate dividend.
