Verdict

HERRING SENIOR can get the better of Aladdin's Lamp and Daily Double in this nursery handicap. The selection ran respectably enough last time but the key to his chance today is the step-up in trip as this extra furlong should play to his strengths. Paul Cole has his string in decent form and this colt should take all the beating. Aladdin's Lamp looks the obvious danger as he lost no caste in defeat at Leicester last time and if he settles better than he did that day, then he could be a leading player. Daily Double has hinted at ability, he hails from a top yard and he has a good draw so he is another to consider, especially as his latest below-par effort can be excused as he was very slowly away. Hatchet Man has a good draw and could go well at a price, but Herring Senior has plenty in his favour and he is the pick.
