Verdict

John Gosden's Clockmaker has shown some promise in three mile maidens so far and could be of interest on his handicap debut off a mark of 77 but he is not certain to appreciate the drop to seven furlongs and preference is for CAPE ROCK, who gets the verdict ahead of Regeneration. Michael Bell's gelding was a one length winner over Ocean Legend at Warwick last month and has every chance of following up that success despite racing off a 5lb higher mark today, although he would have preferred a higher draw. David Pinder's Gazboolou deserves to get his head in front having found just one too good in three of his last four starts but he has harshly been raised 8lbs since his latest effort and looks booked for a place at best. Mishrif has to defy a 7lb rise for his win at Lingfield last month, while Quasi Congaree steps up in trip following his win at Goodwood last time and is not certain to appreciate it. The trip is certainly not a problem for William Knight's Cape Rock though following some decent efforts over the distance in his two starts this term and he can gain a well deserved success.
